Catering For The Picky Small Ones - Children's Party Tips

By Eric Kings

Planning your little kid's birthday party should be as enjoyable as the bash itself. They aren't the silent type of critics, but children are generally simple to please. You just need to make everything fun and colorful, and the rest will be a breeze.

In setting the food list, add a few items for the grownups if you are hosting a party for little kids. For the children's menu, have everything in cut sizes. It will also be a good idea to have finger food instead of complete meals.

Kids will be happy to know that their timeless favorites like hotdogs, sausages, and sandwiches are set on the table. Make it even more fun by presenting the food in a colorful and fun way. Stay away from food items that require the use of a knife. Fried chicken and barbecues are fine, but steaks, the ones that require fork and knife to slice, are definitely a no-no.

Also have disposable cups ready during kids' parties. Spills are not unusual when kids are concerned so it is best to avoid glasses and other fragile items to prevent cuts and accidents. Have water jugs set and colorful fruit juices on the table. Always have napkins prepared and trash bags set up in different corners to avoid more mess.

If there's one thing kids love more than they love playtime, it is when they are allowed to eat sweets or desserts. Make your desserts colorful and attention-grabbing like cathedral gelatin or cupcakes with cute toppers. Cakes and ice cream are still as popular as ever to kids so putting them on the table wouldn't hurt.

It is not required, but it is appreciated if you prepare another meal for the adults who accompany their children to the party. It doesn't have to be a complete set, but just one or two mixtures to keep them sated like a burger or a plate of pasta.

Kids will love you more if you can give away loot bags at the end of the party. In making prize bags, keep in mind that little kids would like to see variety and quantity over quality. They will opt to see dozens of little treasures like colorful pens for their craft projects and small basketballs rather than one pricey tumbler.

Children's parties are sloppy and boisterous, but they are also exciting. Keep it that way by making it fun. Begin by making the food exciting for them.
